About Anna

"At Green Balance, I am passionate about optimising health for each individual pet"

Hello,

I'm Dr. Anna Rodriguez, a vet with a lifelong passion for animals and their well-being. From a young age, I was one of those children who decided that I wanted to become a vet. I felt far more at home in the company of animals, and I have dedicated my life trying to help improve theirs.

My journey in veterinary medicine formerly began when I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2003. I embarked on a fulfilling career in a rural mixed animal practice, where I connected deeply with both the animals and their devoted caregivers. Over the years, I had the privilege of traveling and working in diverse places like Latin America and New Zealand, gaining invaluable experiences that shaped my approach to veterinary care.

For over 15 years, I served as a first opinion general practitioner at Anchorage Vets in Acle, meeting amazing clients and their pets, working with some amazing people, and becoming an integral part of the local community. These years of experience have equipped me with a profound understanding of veterinary practices, medications, and the importance of collaborative care. I am committed to working closely with your primary veterinarian to provide seamlessly integrated care for your pets.

My journey took an exciting turn when I delved into the world of holistic veterinary medicine. In 2009, I embarked on a Veterinary Herbal Medicine certificate course, incorporating the healing power of herbs into my practice. This knowledge not only thrilled me but also inspired me to share it. I now run a foundation Course in Western Veterinary Herbal Medicine, guiding fellow veterinary surgeons in integrating plant-based remedies into their practice.  I have been a committee member of the British Association of Veterinary Herbalists (BAVH) for many years.

In addition to herbal medicine, I pursued a foundation in Veterinary Acupuncture, expanding my therapeutic options. This led to a certificate in Chronic Pain management, allowing me to offer effective pain management solutions for animals dealing with long-term discomfort.

My own experience with a health condition taught me the importance of comprehensive and compassionate care. Fuelled by this insight, I founded Green Balance, for a more comprehensive holistic veterinary experience. Here, I provide unhurried, in-depth consultations, allowing ample time to address concerns, explore solutions, and develop holistic treatment plans tailored to your pet's unique needs.

My goal is to collaborate with you, the primary caregiver, as well as other healthcare professionals to optimise your pet's well-being comprehensively. Together, we can ensure that your beloved companions lead happy, healthy lives.

With warm regards,

Dr. Anna Rodriguez, BVetMed MRCVS Cert WVA & CP

Why is there a Hawthorn Leaf in my logo?

In designing my logo, I opted for a Hawthorn, a tree close to my heart, and with multiple symbolic connotations

Branches of hawthorn blossom were traditionally hung above doorways to ward off evil spirits

Hawthorn has ancient associations with May Day, which is when Green Balance officially opened. Its blossoming marks the point at which spring turns into summer.

In Celtic mythology it is one of the most sacred trees and symbolises love and protection.

It is  known for its longevity and can live over 400 years.

Hawthorn, scientifically known as Crataegus monogyna, has a longstanding reputation for its cardiovascular benefits. It is laden with bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and procyanidins, which are shown to promote a healthy heart.
